World Intellectual Property Day

The event was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2000 to "raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life" and "to celebrate creativity, and the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies across the globe".

The theme for 2021 is SMEs & IP: Taking your ideas to market.      Copyrights, Patents, Trademarks, and Trade Secrets – Four Types of Intellectual In 2000, WIPO's member states designated April 26 – the day on which the WIPO Convention came into force in 1970 – as World Intellectual Property Day with the aim of increasing general understanding of intellectual property.
